GSD caught sleeping on the job!

It is on rare occasion I am able to sneak up on the German Shepherd (or the Nova Scotia Duck Toller for that matter!) Most likely because they are always looking forward to coming inside from the back yard when someone gets home…just to turn around and go to the front yard and play (mostly Ada the GSD, Chloe the Nova Scotia Duck Toller would prefer to always be inside.)

Snoozing GSD

However, I got them! It was to my surprise that I even made it out the door without them noticing, much less able to capture it in pictures, well, ONE picture, and then…

GSD: "Oh, hey there!"

Yeah, I did not have much time before I was noticed. It was adorable though because she was still half asleep trying to come to me, and she wobbled a bit before she got herself straight.

Need help with training your German Shepherd? Aringsburg Kennel has a great blog for that.

I'm Waiting for You

German Shepherd at the Door

Ada’s human “daddy” had just gotten up for his “day” (he works night shift) and she was able to say hello to him…but then he needed to jump in the shower. Apparently, she did not feel like she had sufficient time with him because she sat and waited the entire time he was in the bathroom. You could tell where he was in the bathroom because that would be the direction she would turn.

That Sweet "I love you" Look

Just a little GSD nap!

GSD: "Hi, mom...I love you."

German Shepherds are so expressive with those eyes! Usually Ada gives me her “I love you” look with her ears down in what I call “Yoda ears,” but she can say it with just those eyes too. She doesn’t get on our couch often, but this night was my first night home after being away from home a few days, and she slowly scooted herself closer and closer to me until she was in my lap. I couldn’t resist! I had missed her every moment I was gone too, and was so happy to have her near. I swear, the love of a dog can warm your heart after the worst of days.

Queen in this House

German Shepherd in Bed

This little girl sure thinks she owns this house! Ada is really good at sneaking up where she doesn't belong, and then she gives you this look like, "Please don't make me move. I'm so comfy!"
It almost works, lol. She is always quick and polite when asked to get down though.
I love my little German Shepherd Dog.

Great write on Why You Shoud Own a GSD.

Seat Warmer

Best Seat Warmer

It is always so nice to get out of the shower, and come to the living to a nice pre-warmed seat. Thanks Ada!

Feet Up

I swear, this dog will sleep in the oddest positions. She loves to sleep on her back, or with her feet up against something. Here, she lays in her "room" feet against the wall. When I go to bed, she is asleep like a normal dog, and then I will hear her making all kinds of racket...now I know why.

The Perfect Pillow

GSD Pillow

These two are almost always together. During movie time, Ada became bored of the movie and napped, but she stayed right by Little Girl's side.

Bite your head off

Get your sister's head out of your mouth!

Chloe (Nova Scotia Duck Toller) and Ada (GSD) never want a bone if you hand it directly to either of them...they each one the bone that was handed to the other. This is the result.

Snuggle Wars

GSD: "Wait, that's my little girl!"
It's almost always Ada snuggling with Little Girl. Today, Chloe the Nova Scotia Duck Toller jumped by Little Girl's side. Ada was surprised, and had lots to say to both Chloe and Little Girl. She was fussing, whinning and barking her feelings out.

Snow catch!

GSD catching snowball
My daughter sent me this picture during one of her "snow days" off from school. Only took her 3 tries to capture this amazing shot!

GDS sleeping positions

GSD with her feet up
Always feet up - a lot of German Shepherds will sleep in odd positions, putting their feet up on the walls or just up in the air.

Please hit the ball

Our Nova Scotia Duck Toller (I normally refer to her as a Golden because that's what everyone assumes she is) and GSD…waiting to chase the tennis ball.

Working GSD

GSD jumping for tennis ball
This German Shepherd loves to work
Every day, taking Ada out to "work" is a must. If we skip giving her a few hours of exercise, she gets very moody. She will spend an entiring evening barking and asking to go outside. GSD love to work!

GSD Laundry day

Perfect for a German Shepherd pup

Hello, I need to be washed as well

I'm not sure if she was trying to help me, or if she just wanted to get my attention. I mean, Ada does love to work whenever possible, but with the look on her face, I think she just wanted some love.

Snuggle buddies

GSD laying on her Nova Scotia Duck Toller
Ada and Chloe

Ada tries to cuddle with Chloe as much as possible. Chloe normally gets up and walks away so it was nice to catch a snap of the two of them all snuggled up.
