The German Shepherd dog comes in many varieties. My
Ada comes from a long line of working German Shepherds and her color is known
as a Sable. Unlike the Saddleback, a Sable German Shepherd has colors that run
throughout the body instead of being the separated colors, like black and tan.
Ada is a Silver German Shepherd with black tips. Sable is actually the original
color of the German Shepherd.
The first German Shepherd that was recorded was in
1899, was a male, sable in color and weighed approximately 65lbs.
